bmUploads_2013-02-03_1300_outskirts-overlookNaughty Dog’s newest game for the Playstation 3 will give gamers a glimpse of a zombie-infested, post-apocalyptic Boston. The Last of Us, which will be released on June 14, follows two human survivors across America, with much of the early action occurring in Boston and New England. Sure, it’s not the most positive or wholesome portrayal of the region, but getting to tour the virtual wreckage of the Mass Pike and Boston’s mass transit system does offer a certain thrill. This is the second game in two years to prominently feature Boston as a locale. Last year’s Assassin’s Creed III gave players the chance to explore colonial Boston and much of the surrounding area. Leaping from building to building in the historic North End or climbing the steeple of the Old South Church is an experience that we don’t recommend trying outside the safety of your gaming console.

Of course, with summer just around the corner, there’s no better time to put down the game controllers and explore the real Boston. It’s not hard to see why Boston is a major tourist destination for both real and virtual travelers. From relics of the Revolutionary War to modern art at the ICA, our city has a lot to offer! Video games are great, but there’s still no substitute for the real place. Let us be your tour guides during your stay and we’ll show you a real Boston experience! After a stay at our Brookline bed and breakfast, you won’t want to leave. But don’t worry, you can visit us again on your Playstation when you get home.
