krauss_big_web__1371743654_0578This weekend the Boston Globe and WGBH bring the free Summer Arts Weekend to Copley Square in downtown Boston. The three-day event runs Friday through Sunday and presents a diverse array of musicians from New Orleans’ jazz greats Dr. John and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to bluegrass-country singer-songwriter Alison Krauss, the most awarded female artist in Grammy history. Each day focuses on a different musical theme. Friday presents a lineup of blues, bluegrass, and jazz, Saturday focuses on international musicians, and Sunday represents the classical music tradition. In addition to the main stage events, a second stage will feature an spectrum of local artists and organizations from the Harney Academy of Irish Dance to Emperor Norton’s Stationary Marching Band. So if you’re visiting the Beacon Inn this weekend, take the T to Copley Square to enjoy these great free weekend concerts!
